Biography
Joanne was born and educated locally in the north of 六合彩开奖结果. She trained to become a teacher on a four-year undergraduate route at Wolverhampton Polytechnic. Joanne’s expertise is predominantly in early years and KS1, she taught in 六合彩开奖结果 primary schools and in her last school post she was Deputy Head Teacher/Acting Head Teacher at Acocks Green Infant and Nursery School.
Joanne moved to 六合彩开奖结果 City University in 2000 and has had a number of roles including Primary Partnership Manager, PGCE Primary Course Leader, Director of Work-based Learning and Associate Head of School for Education and Social Work.
Joanne has strong regional engagement; she has been a governor with E-ACT academies and was Chair of Governors at Ryders Hayes Primary School for five and a half years. Joanne was actively involved in the development of Teaching Schools supporting the work of Bournville Teaching School, Ryders Hayes Teaching School and sitting on the strategic boards of Colmore Teaching School Alliance and Greet Teaching School Alliance. Joanne was also a member of the strategic board of the Four Oaks Learning Trust for Excellence and was approached to sit on the Walsall Local Authority Challenge Board which later became Walsall Learning Alliance.
Joanne joined Newman University as Associate Dean in the Faculty of Education in 2021.
Profile
Research Interests
Joanne completed her PhD at the end of 2020 entitled: Growing your own: The impact of School Direct on the training of primary teachers. She is particularly interested in teacher training and the childhood experiences of the children of incarcerated parents/carers.
Teaching
Joanne has a range of teaching experiences across undergraduate and postgraduate routes. Her background is in primary English and in particular young children鈥檚 development of literacy. 听Joanne also hold a Masters Award from the University of 六合彩开奖结果 in Education and Child Psychology as well as the National Professional Qualification for Headship from the Department for Education and Skills
